F-One SUP Team shines at the Melbourne Beach wave contest

F-One team riders Andrew Crane and Billy Ackerman accompanied me to the event. All three of us were placed in the first heat together with Andrew placing 4th, Billy placing 3rd, and I placed 1st by narrowly overtaking Starboard team rider Girard Middleton at the end of the heat

The Central Florida district ESA(Eastern Surfing Association) surf contest #6 “Sonny Dayz” was held at 8am on January 5th, 2013 in Melbourne Beach, FL.

It was the final contest for their 2012-13 season sponsored by Sun Bum and Flowmotion.

F-One team riders Andrew Crane and Billy Ackerman accompanied me to the event. All three of us were placed in the first heat together with Andrew placing 4th, Billy placing 3rd, and I placed 1st by narrowly overtaking Starboard team rider Girard Middleton at the end of the heat. Only the top three from each heat would advance to the finals, so Andrew was able to get some pictures of the finals for us. The final results yeilded Billy with a fourth place finish while I finished in third place. We saw some very good talent from the local riders Fischer Grant and Girard Middleton, who were two of the top points leaders for the season.

I feel we did very well considering it was the first ever contest experience for any of us riding new boards we haven’t fully dialed in yet. I’m glad we entered the last contest of the season so we could gain valuable experience for the upcoming 2013-14 season. We are all looking forward to entering many more of the ESA contests throughout Florida this coming year.
